how does Kokoro know my heart rate?
The user wears the Polar heart rate sensor. It is a strap that goes around the body, like this one. It actually works with any of their transmiter models, including the very cool Adidas t-shirts that integrate the sensor.

how precise is it?
It is very precise and also checks for possible errors by doing averages and eliminating readings that are out of range.

why not just use a playlist?
Yeah, you can do that. This is an alternative way to listen to music that responds to your body. A playlist can't predict or know what is happening to your body, so this is another way to navigate your music.

if my pulse is already racing and it gives me even faster songs that would be awful!
Kokoro has 2 ways of over-riding the initial setting of matching your heartrate to your music. The - button tells Kokoro to find music that will help bring your heart rate down gradually. The + button has the opposite effect.

If I let it match my music to my heartrate I think I would end up with some very chilled out workout sessions.
If you know that you're intention is to accelerate your heart rate, you can press the + button and kokoro will find music that will gradually bring your heart rate up.
why is it so big?
Kokoro is at a prototyping stage, it will get much smaller than this.
does the song change or the speed of the song?
Currently kokoro changes the song, acting as a DJ.
so... my song gets interrupted constantly?
No. The songs get mixed, faded in and out so that it's not annoying. It can also be setup to finish every song and then play a faster or slower song, if you prefer to listen to entire songs.
how does Kokoro know what song to pick next?
Digital music files can store the average beats per minute (bpm) of a song. Most of the songs in our library do not include these information. In iTunes, you can find out the bpm of a song with plugins like Tangerine or Beattunes. This classification is necessary in order to use Kokoro.
does it only work with iPod?
Currently, it works with any model of iPod with a dock connector. It can be adapted to work on other players as well.
